About the Project

Decarbonisation through Digitalisation? is a research project at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE), Lund University. The project investigates the climate implications of increasingly digital lifestyles, with a particular focus on changes in time use, consumption and everyday behaviour.

Participating researchers

Matthias Lehner (Project Leader) – Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Consumption at IIIEE, Lund University. His research focuses on sustainable consumption, digitalisation, time use, and the environmental consequences of changing lifestyles.

David Andersson – Researcher at Chalmers University of Technology specialising in sustainable consumption, carbon footprints, and the use of financial transaction data to understand the climate impacts of everyday consumption.

Anna Furberg – Researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology specialising in life-cycle assessment and the environmental and climate impacts of digital technologies and digitalisation.

Prof. Göran Finnveden – Professor of Environmental Strategic Analysis at KTH, with expertise in sustainable consumption, life-cycle assessment, climate action, and the environmental impacts of digitalisation.

Jessika Luth Richter – Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University whose research focuses on sustainable consumption, circular economy, lifestyle change, and rebound effects.

Prof. Oksana Mont – Professor at Lund University specialising in sustainable consumption, sharing and circular economies, sufficiency, and the systemic drivers of consumption and environmental impacts.
